Hello!
Is it just me, or is it a LOT easier to make films with less people?? 3 or 4 friends, 6 at a push are aesy to work with and they do what's required, but as soon as you get bigger groups prople start getting ahead of themselves!!
just a random observation... back to work for me...

yes it is... but then surely that makes sense. I have a cast of about 7 and before we begin shooting we are getting together to read through the script (Should take no longer than half an hour) but getting everyone together is a nightmare.

I hear you on the scheduling nightmares associated with large casts. We're down to our last few days of shooting on a feature-length vampire movie and the script has 23 named characters, but we needed some larger groups for some of our scenes, so the cast list numbers almost 40! I started making movies because I like telling stories, not because I particularly like making phone calls.
I think my next movie will be about one guy that's locked in a janitor's closet for 90 minutes. He develops multiple personalities and they begin to argue about how to get out.
On the plus side, there is a grand total of 33 deaths in our vampire movie, which averages out to something like 1 death for every 0.4 minutes of screen time (or something like that). Woo hoo! Lets hear it for low-brow entertainment!!!

I'd say it's common sense that fewer crew are easier to control- but if the size of the production demands a large crew what ya gonna do?
Get on with it.
